Today this young gurl (18) came through my line. She was buying clothes and pampers for her only child. She didn’t have enough to buy him socks. When all of a sudden she started telling me that her child’s daddy had jumped on her last night…….at the “hang out spot”( crack house). She had scratches all over her face and neck.
Â
That hurted me to my heart.
Â
As a mother of a soon to be 20 year old daughter, to hear that this young gurl was being beaten made me upset. I told her, “I said boo, God didn’t put you down here to be beaten on.” That’s not what you are here on this earth for. I wanted to tell her so much more. When she left I was sick that I didn’t give her my phone number. I wasn’t thinking at all.
Â
We as parents must train up our daughters that its not okay to get beat by a man. Its not acceptable!! Growing up we got whooping, who wants to get whoopings while they are grown? Not me! I got enough coming up. In fact, I remember saying “I can’t wait to get grown, so I wont get any more whooping!
Â
Many times young gurls find themselves in situations (especially if they have a child by the man), where they are depended on him. They have somehow lost their own way. When a man can look around and see that
Â
- Â she don’t have a strong family tie
- don’t have dependable friends
- have a low self esteem
- very needy
- she doesn’t have a vision or goal for her own life
Its easy to get caught up in the life of his, where it consist of control, anger, beatings and sometimes death. We as parents, women and men we must talk to our kids, nieces, nephews!!!!!!! Im willing to put up everything for this fight. She needs to know that God made her. He is the ruler of her body and her mind. She doesn’t have to put up with anything that doesn’t make her happy. God put us here for his purpose. Keyword: His Purpose!
Â
When your self-esteem is low you will put up with a lot of things, things you look back on later and say dangggggggg “No I didn’t let that fool do that to me.” WE dont know any better. That’s why its important to set standards of what we would accept and wont except. And live by them.
Â
To my yahoo sisters and brothers. I beg you tonight. Please adopt a teen. Find a teen in your area, at your school, in your neighborhood, at your job and adopt them as your own. Spend time with them, talk to them, invite them to outings, give them hope, pray for them, be that light in their lives. Even if its your nieces, nephews and their friends, please try to spend time with them. And talk to them till your blue in the face.
Â
How I know so much? Because this same gurl was me when I was 18
Â
God Bless
