“Submitting to Authority”

“Submitting to Authority”

There was a time in my life where I had a problem with authority. To me, people who were in charge thought they were that deal. I looked at them as people who wanted to point their fingers and the job was done…………….but not by their hands. But ………by mines.

Everybody wants to be a “plant manager.” I wasn’t a jump, jump, jump to it (Aretha Franklin’s song) kinda person. I was a why I gotta do that? Why you can’t do it? Kinda person.

Today, I Thank God that he is working on me in that area, to where I am a person who don’t ask why, I just do.

The bible talks about people in authority. Hebrews 13 (New International Version) 17Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.

Lets dissect this scripture. It says obey your leaders and submit to their authority. Everyone has to answer to someone. If you have children they have to submit to you. If you have a job, you have to submit to your manager. If you are watching someone’s children they have to submit to you. If your neighbor ask you to watch their dog while they are away, That dog has to submit to you! Everyone has authority over something. When the mother, the dog owner, your manager comes to you, you have to give an account of how things were ran when that person was gone. What ever questions they need to know, you need to be able to answer them.

And thats just how it’s going to be on Judgement Day.

How can I get up, go to work everyday, and not be able to submit to authority? But at the same time, be the first to smack the heartbeat out my daughter’s chest if I tell her to do something and she asks me why she’s gotta do it. You see how this works? One respect deserves another!

I am not going to allow my child to ask me why she gotta do this and that…………..so in the same breathe I wont ask my manger why she chose me to do something. I ‘ll just do it!

Its not about negotiating, its about hearing a command from your manager and executing it.

Think about this: If we don’t learn now to listen to authority from the people that we see everyday, and live with. Why would God be any different whom we don’t see?

Let me ask you this: Do you grip and ask why I gotta do it, to your supervisor? If so, did you learn anything just now? Are you willing to change?

From this day on, I will try my best to live my life in a way pleasing to God. Because I want my name in the Book of Life~~ Lacrease

  1. I can’t remember having ever been in a position where I would have to ask why or to go even further & be insubordinate. I’ve been in the mgmt./coach position 2x’s & I’m happy no one gave me problems. It’s all about communication & respect.

If someone came up to me & started talking out of the side of their neck, not giving me the respect I would give them, could possibly be the only time I’d feel I would need to ‘talk back’ or ‘set them straight’, question them or whatever. In the work place after you’re aware of your job description… why ask why? As far as the law & etc. I mean… you know the laws & if you don’t in court their favorite phrase is: “Ignorance of the law is no excuse.” I could go down the line & on & on as I have a habit of doing so. But, as I said before, I really believe it all boils down to communication & respect.

    LOL (BTW)

  3. It’s good to see that people are doing their part in the work force, but unfortunately everyone is not that way. I was one of those people that didn’t like to do what somebody told me because I thought that they were trying to boss me – ha ha – ain’t that funny, I work for someone and I was talking about somebody was trying to boss me. Well the reality of that is this “If you don’t own your own business – yes you are being bossed!”
