How to pray

When I first started reading the bible, I use to always wonder how do you talk to God. How do you pray, what do you say to him, how do you even start out? It use to be on my mind so tough, because I wasn\’t use to talking to people using the King James language.

I always felt that I was missing out on communication and a personal relationship with the Lord because I didn\’t know how to use \”thee\” \”thou\” shalt and words like that. I felt it was \”not me\” and that our communication would not be good. I don\’t know how I thought that we had to talk to him using those words, but I did. I truly did.

Today, I find a lot of people who just don\’t know how to pray. I believe its the reason why some people don\’t have a personal relationship with him. So today Im going to share \”When its hard to pray.

When It Is Hard to Pray

The bible tells us that God knows our every thought and every word on out tongue (Psalm 139:1-4). And when we don\’t know what to pray for, the Holy Spirit \”makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered\” ( Romans 8:26).

These biblical truths assure us that we can have communication with God even without a word being spoken, because He knows the intentions and desires of our heart. What a comfort when we are perplexed or in deep distress! We don\’t have to worry if we can\’t find the words to express our thoughts and feelings. We don\’t have to feel embarrassed if sometimes our sentences break off half-finished. God knows that we were going to say. We don\’t have to feel guilty if our thoughts wander and we have to struggle to keep our minds focuses on the Lord.

And for that matter, we don\’t have to worry about a proper posture in prayer. If we are elderly or arthritic and cant kneel, that\’s okay. What God care about is the posture of our heart. What a wonderful God! No matter how much you falter and stumble in your praying, he hears you. His hear of infinite love responds to the needs and emotions of your own inarticulate heart. So keep on praying!

  1. My prayers to GOD sometimes sound like a conversation because I like to talk to him even my praise I just like to take my time and thank him it makes me feel more intimate with him.

  2. This blog was definitely necessary because sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in posture, eloquent words, what’s right or sounds crazy, etc. God is only concerned about our hearts and what we truly battle with. Everything else is irrelevant. Everything else is a distraction. Prayer is what I am working on greatly in my life right now. I am working on being consistent.

I am learning how to sit outside on the balcony of my apartment, which is a very peaceful place for me, and just talk to Him. The first two days were weird. HOWEVER, on day #3, His answers began to startle me (in a good way). You know, we get so caught up. Well, let me focus on me. I used to get so caught up in everything else and just forget about Him or take Him for granted. Not anymore. Thanks for a lovely post, LaCrease!

  3. I ENJOY MY TIME WITH GOD. SO GLAD I CAN GO TO HIM EVEN WHEN I DO’T NEED ANYTHING. GOD AND I HAVE A ONE ON ONE CONVERSATION. HE WILL GIVE ME ANSWERS TO THAT WHICH I DON’T UNDERSTAND. I FIND PEACE IN PRAYER EVEN WHEN THEIR IS CONFUSION IN MY FAMILY. I LEARN TO TURN IT ALL OVER TO HIM. THEN WHEN I PRAY IN THE SPIRIT,SING IN THE SPIRIT TALKING ABOUT A TIME WHEW WHAT A TIME. I TEACH MY CHILDREN TO DO THE SAME. GBU SIS
