How we fed 150 people for Thanksgiving in Detroit….Crees Blog Entry
I realized that God equipped me with Being a Visionary I have insight on things that others just don’t see, or understand…. and ITS OKAY. As a visionary you have to be able to think quickly and able to come up with solutions. You have to always have a plan B. I have a gift to vision the whole thing in progress before it even happens while sitting in my living room months before time. In doing this, I can see all the issues that may come up, and that is how this is able to go smoothly EVERY YEAR. THANK YOU JESUS.
While I was preparing for our 5th Feeding the Homeless for Thanksgiving, my mother, and sister said to me…..* WE laughed* what do you do, because all we see you doing is writing stuff down on your notes? I laughed so hard at them, while they laughed at me… and I said yall have NO idea what it takes to pull this all together. Had this been years and years ago when they were “cracking jokes” hehehehing….. I would have been mad * only for a moment*…. but I knew that they didn’t know any better, and when they see me in action…. they’re going to “FEEL BAD FOR ME” in a sense.
The day before we went out to the streets to feed the homeless, I met my mommy over to my sister house were we sit up, snack, laugh, and talk about different things going on. We were all comfortable when my phone rang… I had to go and meet someone to collect items. When I told my family I would be right back… they were unhappy. They thought I was there to chat… but really I knew I had to meet donors in the area. When I returned…… 30 minutes after that I had to meet someone else, they wanted to know how long I was going to be… because they wanted to sit up and talk.LOL LOL *since they were hehehe about me* But see little did they know I had to do a lot of running around. So after my 3rd pick up, they were like… omgoodness we’re starting to see what you really do. They asked me do you feel like all of this driving? I said yes. I love to drive so this is nothing to me. When 5 pm came, that was my last pick up, and then it was time to take things to my other sisters house to store until the next day. With all the running around… I put in $38.00 in my tank just for those 2 days ALONE then I had to put in $45.00. YES #TRUESTORY
Wednesday morning I was up at 7 am… ready to drop nesha off at work, then to Walmart, Target to pick up some last minute things, picked up my BFF with macaroni and cheese, her daughter, then to my sisters house to get MORE macaroni and cheese she had made that morning before she went to work. We had even more things to unload before we started the process. Whew that was a lot to unload.
By this time it was after 11 am. WE had to bag all 150 dinner rolls, 150 cookies, then we had to tear off over 200 pieces of aluminum foil to cover the dinners. We had to put can pop, and water in 150 bags. WE had some much trash. LOL After we did the drinks, we had to hall them into the van because they took up a lot of space on the floor. After all the food was done, and ready to be served except for a few things that needed to be heated…..my CREW WAS HUNGRY. ME….. when I’m busy like that and I want things done… I can go all day until were done before I even get hungry. So, I had to pause for that… usually I buy extra chicken, rolls and pop for everyone who participated, but they wanted
Mc Donald’s. I didn’t want to go way across town to pick up the chicken AND make extra trips to the restaurant, so I timed it so that we can make only one trip. Whew… the faces people make when they’re hungry is funny!!!! I had my friend Gloria call several places that I had written down to get the best deals for 300 WHOLE PIECES OF CHICKEN WINGS. We found a deal $190.00 we were off to get food. Me, gloria, Charlene and Tyra. It took us over an hour to return and that set us back from being out on the streets at 4 pm. I wasn’t happy about that, but oh well, what can I do?
When we returned my friend Nicole and her 2 daughters were on their way. We knew that once we got in the house we had to get started making 150 plates and when I say it takes some time….. BELIEVE ME!!! They had chicken and dressing, potato salad, string beans with white potatoes, mac and cheese, dinner rolls, and 2 pieces of fried chicken. Pop, water, brownie, and cookies.
What I learned is that here in Detroit the weather changes from year to year.. and when its cold outside I have to make sure we are on the streets be fore dark at least 4 because they go inside of a building and stay. Last year when it was warm, they were all over the streets and it took us 7-10 minutes to pass out all the food. This year it took us longer because dark caught us, and it was cold outside. So next year I’m going to focus on quality instead of quantity. We can make the plates heavier with food, we can give more deserts out, we can also pass out more waters or pop and juice.
After it was over.. my mommy and sister said we ARE SO SORRY FOR MAKING JOKES ABOUT YOU AND YOUR NOTES… my mommy said she could NEVER IN HER LIFE DO WHAT I DO AND STILL HAVE A GOOD ATTITUDE IN FROM OF EVERYBODY. They said…..we never knew it takes all of that to pull this together. They helped me all the way through and couldn’t believe all the work it takes. LOL I told them… I knew they didn’t see the big picture like I did… I know it is God who gives me the drive and motivation to put this together. It takes a sane mentality to inbox, phone, email, text people to make sure everything is going well… I am so proud of myself to truly learning how to “keep it moving” no matter what’s going on.
After we loaded my van, Nicole’s truck and my sister/hubby car… we went to the streets of downtown Detroit. We were so tired.. but for some reason I was up the next morning at 7am. Wow God… for real? LOL
Can’t wait till next year.

Good Morning!!! I have a QUESTION. Okay….. there is this customer that comes to Walmart everyday. He is the sweetest man you’ll ever meet. You can tell that he has money based on the conversations and his style. Usually when he comes in, he’s looking to buy small end things such as a hammer, or screws. Keep in mind he comes in EVERYDAY knows all the cashiers and floor sales associates. One day I was ringing him up and noticed that he was buying groceries, he never buys them. He had lots of can goods. So me… being me said to him wow… I never remember you buying food, its always other things. He said YES, this is for the HOMELESS not for me. Well, I looked at his items, and they were ALL NO NAME BRAND…. things he certainly wouldn’t buy for himself. I kinda got annoyed because why is it that when people donate to the HOMELESS for FOOD *not items you don’t eat* We tend to buy them NO NAME BRAND FOOD, but when it comes to our family we buy name brand? Is this okay? Is this wrong or right? When we buy name brand food for us, and no name brand food for the HOMELESS are we saying we are better than them. Are we saying,…. WELL AT LEAST IM BUYING THEM SOMETHING TO EAT… I DIDN’T HAVE TO DO THIS? If you are a person who donates or help people, do you buy them things on the SCALE AS YOU WOULD YOURSELF? What are your thoughts on this?
Michelle Hicks-Stokes I’m a no name brand shopper Lacrease Walker. I am a Kroger queen and buy all Kroger products which taste divine! So yes, I would buy no name brands. Quiet as kept, they are some of the best tasting foods out there. A lot of times you are just paying for the name in the name brand products.

Betty Williams I don’t see it that way. I saw a documentary on this long ago when I was in California and some of the “no name brand” and the “name brand” are packaged at the same factories. You are paying more for the name brand because of the name brand. I buy the no name brand because it is cheaper unless they have the name brand on sale. I salute this guy for thinking of the homeless people. There are many people who would not even think about homeless people.

I need to do this because it seems a little unfair seeing them there everyday and while passing by I feel that this is not right.

I perfer to keep our $in the state. I buy better maid over lays and faygo over coke and pepsi. I nevef tell or brag because i dont need to be praised for a good job because All belong to GOD. and all that I do is for HIS glory. so if he gave with a pure heart GOD with reward HIM but if not he will reap the benfit of that too.

La Shondra Rias Now I shop at Kroger,Meijer,and Walmart when I do shopping never in the Hood the stores in the Hood r designed to take your money and leave you with no choices but to buy what it is there trying to sell you. But anyway yeah it’s cheaper to buy no name items so you can get more for your $ we should be happy that that gentleman was thinking about the homeless bcuz he didn’t have to. Truth be told the only time we think about the homeless is when we see someone down on the luck and standing on the freeway off ramp. But someone like me I would pull my car over to the side and have a conversation with that person, to see y they are in the situation they are in. Now I’ve been down on my luck and have not had a real job since Walmart but I’ve been blessed to get what I need.

When my ex delivered for GFS we found out that the Meijer’s Mac and Cheese was actually made by the Prince Macaroni company. So even though they have somebody elses name they are actually made by a big end company.

You know it takes a special person to be able to deal with customers. LOL People stop and ask me…….how do you deal with these people and their attitudes? I know its God, because it sure aint Cree. You know I try to do the best I can, and everyday I make sure that I stay focus and smile. I just can’t stand around and frown over situations I can’t handle or control. People are challenging, especially the ones who love to tell you that they can take their money elsewhere. That’s why I love and enjoy working with the homeless people and teens. I get the best feeling in the world.Today this man came through my line today and he cashed in a bottle return for .10. I was almost in tears. Anytime I’m faced with a situation like that, I have to analyze it. This man only had one MICHIGAN returnable POP/BEER can and got .10 off it of. That dime must have meant a lot to him because he needed it to go with whatever other money he had to make his end meet. But then I get ungrateful, arrogant customers that don’t even see what I see, so that they can change the way they see things. I wanted to hear his story, I want to hear how he got into his situation. I can tell he was homeless or not doing to good. Those are the people that I enjoying working with and talking too.
One day this black gurl came through my line and she was telling me that she was pregnant and going to have an abortion. And instantly I thought about my abortion and how bad I felt about it. I was embarrassed and ashamed at the time. I wasn’t even going to tell Neisha’s dad about it, but I needed him to go with me. Nesha was 3 months old when I got pregnant again…… I couldn’t tell my parents, or his family. I couldn’t believe that it was happening, so we had an abortion. When this young gurl was telling me that she was going to do the same thing, right there at the register I started talking her out of it. I told her that I thought I wouldn’t be able to make it financially, but I now realized that I could. I didn’t want her to do this, because I know when she got my age she would feel bad about it and hate that she made that decision. So, anyway she left the store. Almost a year later I was sitting at Subway inside of Walmart having lunch, when she walked up to me and said “Hi, do you remember me”? I smiled and said “No”. She said I’m the gurl who you talked out of having an abortion, here is my baby!!! OMG I cried like a baby!!! I cried!! I cried!!! It had been a while since I’ve seen her. She let me hold the baby and everything. She told me that she was happy that she listened to me, because she LOVED her baby so much. Can you imagine how I felt? At that point I knew that I was one of “those ladies” that when I was a young gurl I listened too. All the older ladies use to talk to me, I don’t know what it was about me that made them approach me and talk me to death. LOL But I felt like that, and it was a good feeling. I really hope to see her again. The point is, that I had to give up my fears, secret, shame and embarrassment just so that someone else could live. And I’ll do it again for the next woman who is thinking about an abortion. I’m happy.
Tomorrow I’m going HOUSE SHOPPING. I like to stack up on household items. These things are for when I move to Atlanta next year. I am going to lose my mind with some of the things that I have on my list. When I get to Atlanta, all I want to focus on is a JOB. I don’t plan to run out of anything at all…..period. I only plan to buy food when I touch down. My cabinets are going to be jammed pack!!! LOL
I want to work under a Visionary who knows what they want and how they want it done….for the experience. I enjoy behind the scenes stuff….I’m a Virgo so you know we work out of EXCELLANCE! Haha. I know exactly what I want to do……….but I’ll keep it to myself.

Valentines Day Care Packages~2011
Cree’s Valentines Day Care packages for the Homeless was awesome!!! We had a ball going out to the streets of downtown Detroit in search for those who are homeless.
When I started Cree’s Feeding the Homeless for Thanksgiving, I was very nervous about asking people for help, because what I wanted to do was kinda
unheard of. I had a vision to prepare the food in my own home, and then go out to the streets to FIND people who were homeless. That’s why I believe that when you establish good credit with people when doing something like this, people WILL invest time and money into you. They’re going to first think mentality about the person you are. They will examine that, and then, they will decide if they want to be apart of your vision. Gloria and I were talking yesterday about how important our mothers said that our credit would be, but being young at the time we felt it was foolish to think about credit. They were right, and not only financially, it could be your attendance at work, your history of anger, your history of good friendships, being on time when people come to pick you up, they pay attention to the time length when you borrow money from them. People really do look at that in deciding to be apart of anything that you do. And I say that to say…..how is your credit with people? Think about it.
I’m so grateful to know that so many people believe in my vision. I’ve had several people from Twitter who have never in their lives met me, take a chance and decided to donate just because they believed that I would carry the vision out and do exactly what I say I would do. I believe that what I display in my Tweets, and the LOVE I have for God, is why he laid it on their hearts to be apart of this mission. So, I send a special Thank you to my Twitter gurls ~Selena from NYC, Calandra ( from Chicago), and my #1 twin Sister Sherry (from Michigan).
This year was different than last year. Last year we didn’t serve food, but what we found out was, they were hungry. While they were happy to receive what We had last year, it was very clear that they wanted to eat. And so with knowing that, we heard the call and delivered!!!! We made a HUGE POT OF SPAGHETTI. We passed out nice size plates topped off with Sara Lee dinner rolls, Entenmann’s donuts, Faygo pops, Aquafina and Dasani bottles of water.They had gloves, hats, toothpaste, lotions, deodorant, face cloths, and toothbrush holders. Also we were able to buy 4 jackets, and one pink coat. They were so happy, and so Thankful.
The sad part about the mission was, after we had passed out care packages and everyone went their own ways to eat, we saw people eating the dinners from the alleys in the cold. They even looked happy and content. We drove around, and gave this one guy another plate. We saw people eating anywhere they can just for peace. What bought tears to my eyes was, this guy found a spot on a building steps and ate his dinner. Its so hard to see people who have no where to go, I DONT CARE HOW THEY GOT INTO THEIR SITUATION, I just know that they deserve to be treated with respect, and to be treated as a HUMAN BEING. I’m a cashier for a HUGE COMPANY, and I see daily so many ungrateful people, coming in with their money flashing all over the place making claim to whatever it is they want to buy. And not with LOVE, but with an attitude and ignorant BOLDNESS. None of this “stuff” we CLAIM is ours, it belongs to God. One day, and one day soon God is going to take from the Rich and give to the Poor. I don’t know about those who are reading this entry, but I know many folks including myself, who maybe 5-6 paychecks away from homeless. Yes, we may have family members who will take us in, but YES, that would mean that WE TOO are HOMELESS. Anytime you don’t have your own PLACE TO SLEEP…….that’s a form of HOMELESSNESS. With all of that said, its our duty to help others. No matter if you’re sitting in the break room at lunch and you clearly HEAR someone say, they don’t have any money to eat with, it is our JOBS ……YES, OUR…. JOBS to reach into our pockets and purses and make sure we do all we can to make sure that person eats. And if you’re a person with ” Good Credit”, and you dont have any money on you at the time, then you should be able to go to those people you have established a good bond with and get $5.00 for that person to eat with. That’s the purpose of establishing “good credit” no matter what area of your life that its in. You NEVER know when your child is in school and without something, you NEVER know. Do what’s right to others, and no matter who you are, God will make sure that your love ones are taken care of, ESPECIALLY if you can’t get to them in time.
My car broke down Saturday RIGHT AFTER WORK, so I called Gloria and told her, and she said no problem ” we can go in my car”. That next day I was telling another friend Margarette, and she said that since she have a truck ……she’ll drive. The very day of the mission, another friend came over after work unexpectedly with a truck as well, she TRAILED ALONE and helped. See how God take care of us? He knows our hearts and he knows what we need and he always come through RIGHT ON TIME. I notice and look at all of that, and I can NEVER say Thank you Jesus enough. Thank you Lord, Thank you!

Hey,Before I go any further, make sure you check out the previous blog entry…. God talks to La’Crease. Where do I begin? So much has happened, good and spooky. Well, let me start off with Ted Williams!!! My new hero. When I tell you that I cried when I saw this man’s story……please believe me. I cried like a baby. I admire, Love and adore this man. I Thanked God so much for his break thru and I prayed even more for God to station good people in his life to help him and not harm him. I prayed that God watches over him, and make sure that he doesn’t relapse from all the sudden fame. I’m sure it can be very over whelming at times. He said that before he didn’t have God in his life, he didn’t Praise him, didn’t acknowledge him at all, he said this time is different. He has God in his life and this time he is Thanking him for everything. His mother is 90 years old and looks good!!! I’m so glad that God granted him his wish for them to see each other, and she sees all the attention and offers that he is receiving. But I will say this….. his mother is a STRAIGHT UP MOMMA!!! LOL She don’t mind the cameras and fame, but she let him know in so many words, you have done this before ,and that you can only SHOW me you are serious this time. She didn’t care about cameras following them around or the endorsements. She wants her son to get his life together and stay that way. When she passes on, she wants to know that he is on his feet and is stable. I love that about her, at first I was like dang………she sure is acting “funny”, but see she knows her son, we don’t. She has seen him up and down, and before she eats any “cake and ice cream” she wants to be perfectly sure that he is going to be just fine. I’m so proud of him. I feel like one of my Homeless friends made it! Yes!!!
Last week as I was ringing up customers, the guy who raped me when I was 17 walked up to me and spoke. I said hello to him, and he asked me how was my mom and dad. He was humbled, I didn’t act funny or anything. When he was done shopping, he got in my line. I planned how I was going to say to him ” do you remember raping me”? I wanted to ask him this so badly, his wife ( a old friend of ours) was with him but she was still in the store shopping. My line was long, after a while I looked back and he was in another line. Maybe it wasn’t meant for me to ask him. I dunno if I could’ve said it once we were face to face, but I felt like I could. Of course I would have said it low, but then again it wasn’t the right time. Its just something that “I wanted to ask”. I love God, because he always told me that I would see him in Walmart. He prepared me for this. Both times I saw him, it was there. How “father-daughter” is that? I know that I want to ask him this question, its not like he’s a stranger he knows my whole family and I know his. Its a question that I really really want to know. Even if he can’t answer it, at least I will put it in the front of his thoughts.
Everyday I’m thinking about moving to Atlanta!!! Oh my God its on my mind so deep. I know that I will become a residence, its just a matter of when God is going to release me from this city. I’ve been wanting to live there since Neisha was at least 4 , 20 years ago. I feel like a foreigner in another country there. I want to drive around the state and get to know new places. That’s what excites me the most, getting to know Georgia for myself. And its funny because I have no desire to go any place else and do that. I knew that Georgia would be my home 20 years ago, I don’t know what work is there for me, but its coming. I’ve been doing what God told me to do, and whenever he say its time to move, I will be making that move. The last time I was there, I found a nice place to stay. I know a lot about Buckhead, Sandy Springs, and Dunwoody. I love to drive, so when I was there in June, that’s all I did ALL DAY. I wore my momma out, she said take me back to the hotel. LOL We did, and soon as she got in the room, me and Neisha took off for the beautiful night life downtown Peachtree. I even found me a Krispy Kreme donut house. LOL
May 1, is when My Raisingurls meetings start back up!!! So many parents have asked if their daughters can be apart. I do have a limit and I have to make sure everything runs smoothly. I’m really looking forward to seeing the gurls and meeting new ones. So much to plan, so much to discuss, so much to learn, so much to do.

Today I signed up for Habitat for Humanity at my job theyre going to update us on our project soon. Im excited about that because I love helping people.

Cree’s Feeding the Homeless for Thanksgiving * and taking it to the streets 2009* is going to feed 50 people this year with the help of family and friends.

I hope I win Tyler Perry’s I can do bad all by myself movie Premeire for 2 in New York, Sep 8, 2009 for 2 nights.

Thinking about moving to Atlanta more and more everyday. Its been 16 years since I first went there and its been on my mind every since.

Homeless people and giving more
Hey,
Whats up people!!! I know someone is reading these blogs Im hitting 5-9 a day. I miss yahoo 360, where I had almost 20,000 hits for 3 years. I enjoy when people read my blog entries I hope that they learn something from my experiences.
A few days ago I was downtown sitting in my car when this guy walking on the other side of the steet went in the garbage and pulled out a hamburger. My mouth was wide open. So I watched him as he walked down the street waiting for the right time to eat it. No sooner than I thought he threw out the bread and ate the meat inside. I instantly burst out crying. My momma was in the car with me as we watch I didnt want her to see me crying. As she was talking about how God don’t like when we waste food, I was sitting there telling my tears they better clear up, she looked over at me from the passnegers side and wiped my eyes. That killed me to see that. Caught me so off guard. This guy wasnt old either, he appeared to be younger than I am. This is why its important for me to *Feed the Homeless for Thanksgiving*. I cant stand to eat good with my family and friends, and there are people starving and hungary. It spoils my appetite just knowing this. Lets reach out and give more.
